Newburyport is home to two microbreweries, as well as many restaurants/bars that serve a variety of craft beers. Additionally, these microbreweries feature beer-inspired food menus, tap rooms, and even live music events to top it all off. All are a short walk from the Rail Trail & Commuter Rail Station; and only a short drive from Interstate 95.
Craft Beers feature unique flavor characteristics; they are brewed to be balanced and drinkable. They are phenomenal representations of each brewmaster’s style, as well as that of the microbreweries themselves. They often showcase the team’s commitment to creativity, adventure, and a passion for fresh ingredients whether it be a limited release or a year-round brew.
Newburyport Brewing Company (www.nbptbrewing.com) is conveniently located just one mile outside of downtown Newburyport. The craft brewery features a full brewer’s lab and a brew house. This is the first brewery to can their entire line of beers in Massachusetts. As a result, they became one of the top 10 fastest growing breweries since prohibition in their first year on the market. They are a top 10 brewery in MA and are in the top 250 nationally. The tasting room was recently recognized by the Newburyport Daily News as the “Best Music Venue in Newburyport”. Be sure to check out their live music calendar to see who is playing
River Walk Brewing Company (www.riverwalkbrewing.com) is nestled along the Rail Trail. River Walk’s massive 20,000 square foot space houses a 30 barrel brew house, a taproom featuring twelve rotating taps, and a private room for reserved events as well.
The Grog Restaurant (www.thegrog,com) is a well-known neighborhood restaurant/bar that serves a variety of local/regional craft beers; they also serve delicious American style food. On top of this, they also host live music events on a regular basis.
Every great beer has a story, and every great story deserves a beer. Now it’s time to visit our local microbreweries here in NBPT, and sample some of these delicious beers… Enjoy!
